When the bedrock is dismantled, the foundation we have built our life on crumbles. On our journey to the enlightenment of truth the crumbling is necessary. It is necessary to have these breakdowns of our belief systems, the fixed and rigid states of mind that we operate from.

It is only then that we can create the possibility for what is actually true and authentic for us rather than building our life on false precepts that have been imposed on us.

It is terrifying to feel our life fall apart. Everything we have ever been led to believe becomes a lie. And the biggest lie is the painful betrayal against our own soul, the belief that we are separate from the source of love that we are.

The deepest pain is the illusion of separation. The deepest pain is also where recovery lies for it is the recovery of our truth that makes us whole. What makes us whole makes us holy. The recovery is the path to our divinity.

Our spiritual practices provide the ground when our life falls apart. The time that we spend on a mat, the time that we spend on a cushion, the time that we spend in prayer is what holds and sustains us through these times of falling apart and coming together, breaking down and rising up.

There was a strong call to be in the mountains.

Perhaps to be held in their majestic beauty and strength. Perhaps to be with my sisters in Spirit as they head to the mountains of Peru.

But the truth is there is a mystery that I will never truly know or understand that guides me.

So I took a road I never traveled before to a place I have never been to on a trail never before trekked.

I share with you the beauty of this day from the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico and my mesa.

A rocky outcrop was reward for the vigorous climb.

A perfect spot for solitude.

A perfect spot for meditation.

A perfect spot to be with my mesa.

IMG_2496

My mesa holds stones or kuyas that have been received during rites and initiations from the Shamans of Peru and gifted by Pachamama. Each holds wisdom from a place of power. As I sit and listen to each stone it speaks.

Maybe it is something I need to hear.

Maybe there is something for you too?

IMG_2498

I lay open my mesa on the rocky cliff. The reward of the climb is the higher vantage point, one that sees farther and wider than from down below.

You are as ancient and primordial as the waters.
The wisdom of the waters live within you.
The wisdom of the oceans flow through you.
The life-giving force of all waters are of you too.
The purity of the waters within you is a reflection of the purity of your consciousness.

How do we tend to our waters?

So many things have been added to the waters we drink.
These pollute our waters within.
This is a reflection of the pollution of the waters of our planet.
The waters that run through the body of Pachamama are the same waters that run through our body.

Tending to the waters within tends to the waters of our planet.

Vision the waters as clear, as clean, purifying the body of Pachamama, purifying your body, flowing freely.

Be clean, be clear in your waters.

Love yourself, the totality of yourself, all dimensions of yourself, the wholeness of who you are.

Love your biological self with all of its miracles, love even your smells and that has been made shameful in your biology.

Love your elemental self. You are of all the elements of nature.

Love your spiritual self. Embrace all with love.

Vision a Unity Consciousness. A connection of all souls from the heart. A connection of each and every one of us to all that is, healing the wound of separation.

There is a paradox in being whole as an individual and not separate from the whole of the collective.

Vision an integration of masculine and feminine energies holding all of our dualities.

What you see is what you are visioning.

Are you looking at what is lacking? What is limited?

What do you see?

Can you see the Spirit in the Mountain?

Look up.

Namaste my friends

How many words is a picture worth?
I do not know if we can truly measure that one
but I do believe the best way to share our Easter Pilgrimage
to the Cathedral Cave in Embudo
is with the images of that day.

Through the generosity of Spirit
and the owners of the caves,
we were gifted two caves to visit that day,
entering the first one in ceremony
to deepen our connection with the Mother.

We set to work.
Yoga and breath,
drumming and silence,
opening our hearts
and deepening our sacred feminine well of receptivity.

In silence I enter the pregnant void
Alone with myself
and yet truly not alone at all.
For here, I begin to realize
I am One with all Creation.

This is the home of the unmanifest
In all its fullness.
The plenum,
source of all that is,
was and shall be, too.

I come here on my own,
Unafraid, so that I may know myself better,
To learn the truth
Of who I really am
In my deepest being.

As the outside world falls away
I tremble in awe and fascination
At the hidden power which
So few take the time to go within
And explore.

The second cave left us in AWE,
and ready to move in
with its soaring architechture,
hardwood floors,
running water,
mosaic tiles,
electricity.

A thousand words would not do
so may you enjoy the magic through these pictures.

Some of the adventurous souls that made the first Easter Pilgrimage to Embudo! Not everyone is in the picture but the spirit of this one really captured the joy and magic of the day. A huge bow of thanks to Elizabeth Inman, Izabel Nazario and Don Myer for sharing their beautiful photos!

ps…I was not sure if this would be the one and only ceremony I would have the honor to hold here but it seems that Spirit has more in store. Inspired by the efforts of our Easter Pilgrimage a seed has been planted for a women’s retreat to Embody the Sacred Temple of Our Womb. What magnificent space to do this work…more to follow my friends!

When I first heard of the mystical caves of Ra Paulette I became enamored. My heart was full of a desire to be in one. Not as a curious tourist but as a medicine woman. How a city girl would find her way to a cave in rural Northern New Mexico was beyond me. I offered my wish to Spirit. If it was to be the way would open.

Embudo River, Embudo, NM

Rio Embudo, Embudo, NM

My pilgrimage began with a friend request on facebook, the modern day version of sending smoke signals.

Shortly thereafter I was coursing along Rio Embudo, my little Honda traversing the rough terrain like a 4 wheeler (well more like the little engine that could).

One of Ra’s mystical creations sits on Scott’s property. Scott’s generous heart created an immediate kinship as I arrived at his home for our first meeting to create ceremony.

The short trek from the house to the cave’s entrance was guided by Lou and Ruxton, two of the friendliest gatekeepers.

My Happy Guides to the Cave

My Happy Guides to the Cave

One thing I learned as a child is you never show up at someone’s home empty-handed. The same is true of someone’s cave.

Offerings were made in gratitude for the grace that guided me here.

A dreamcatcher was hung at the doorway to capture the wishes of all souls in need.

Your wish is here

Your wish is here

After entering the cave, a short walkway beguiles the majesty that lies beyond.

The Way is Open

The Way is Open

The space is holy, sacred. You are immediately humbled. What else can one do in the face of God?

The hand sculpted cathedral hidden deep within Pachamama is at once earthly and ethereal.

Slowly, reverently I make my way through. It is the only way to walk here. Every step on our Mother should be so hallowed.

Stairs spiral to a balcony surrounding the heart of this soaring space.

Seats are built into earth as meditative respites. Shrines are hand chiseled into stone. Nooks lay like little wombs waiting to hold you.

Words alone cannot describe. Awe perhaps? That pales in this palace. Words fall away.

Spirit Stairway

Spirit Stairway

I did take pictures but other than the ones here they are not worth sharing. The space cannot be captured that way. It must be felt to be known.

My desire for ceremony began with a love filled intent, the source of any creation.

And this ceremony has begun.

It is a practice in trust, informed by our Mother and this divine infused human creation.

There is not much “doing”. The space itself transforms.

It provokes our deepest listening.

It awakens our deepest silence.

It allows us to be held in an infinite well of Mother Love. A womb that has the power to hold all of human suffering.

This vessel is a mirror of our vessel, holy and sacred.

We are reminded of the humbleness of our power.

Our luminous body is re-informed by the Great Mother who wants us to know we are of her.

We are infinite love, infinite creation, infinite mystery, infinite wisdom.

It is time to remember.

The invitation to ceremony is open. I offer this so the seed may be planted.

It is born from your intent.

By making love a human life is conceived. For us mere mortals creation does not get more omnipotent than that!

An egg and sperm unite and our physical being begins to form yet we are also beings of light. There is a merging of light that happens at the moment of conception as well.

One of the things we learn from the shamans of the Andes on our women’s journey to Peru are the teachings on Light. And none is more powerful than the Light of creation.

For women, a silver cord of light runs through the central channel of our body. For men it is gold. As we merge with our lovers our bodies become full of light. During orgasm, an alchemy of silver and gold creates violet, the light of creation. At this moment we are elevated to God and Goddess in a sacred and powerful dance of creation.

When we understand creation at this dimension of light we hold the power to birth not just human life but our dreams, our visions, our destiny, through this sacred alchemy.

So how do we remember the Gods and Goddesses we are? How can our lovemaking be a portal to our visions?

Your beloved is the most magnificent mirror you have. As you sit across from each other, begin by looking, really looking into the eyes of your lover. Know all that you see, all that you feel is a reflection of the Divine. Allow your heart to hold everything that arises. See and be seen. Love is a lover of all that is be it sorrow, bliss. pleasure, pain.

Let your breath sync, jaw soft, mouth open, in and out together.

Each partner take a turn slowly circling your fingertips, ever so lightly, around the nipples of your partner, building up the sexual energy. Once your partner begins to feel aroused draw that energy down the front of their body in slow circles from the nipples to the genitals. Place your hand over their sex organs and hold still as you continue to gaze and breathe.

As you hold your partners genitals, let them know how much you appreciate them in your life. Let them know what you love most about them. Now let your partner take their turn with you.

Let this ritual be an offering of your heart to your lover and to the Divine. Let this be a time to set an intention to love more deeply. To open your heart wider than ever before. To give and receive pleasure in ways never before imagined.

Let your lovemaking be an offering. Let your love ripple in waves to reach those you love. Let your love be offered to heal those in need. Let the love you generate be of benefit to the world.

I asked my beloved to write a prayer for this piece. His prayers take me straight to God. I offer this as an invocation or as inspiration for lovemaking. A prayer to remember the divine God and Goddess you are. To call upon the power of creation through the sacred dance of your holy union each time you make love.

There is only One.
One Power. One Being. One Source….right here, right now.
Existing within us….through us…as us.
Thank you Great Spirit.
Thank you for this gift of life.
Thank you for the breath we breathe.
Thank you for our heartbeat…one heartbeat.
Thank you for eyes that see, and hands that touch.
Great Spirit, Spirit of the Universe. Use us…use us a channel of your Peace, your Love, and your Light.
Let your breath be our breath.
Let your heartbeat be our heartbeat.
Let your eyes be our eyes.
Let your hand be our hands.
Let your words be our words.
Let there be peace.
Let the peace in our hearts be the peace of the world.
Let there be love.
May the love in our hearts be the love of the world.
Let there be light.
May the light in our eyes be the light of the world.
by Don Black Feather

You are a God and a Goddess. There is no better place to awaken that than in the bedroom.

(Please note…the teachings on light from Dona Aleja, altomesayok and master Q’ero shaman also include teachings of same sex relationships. LBGT are of two spirits and have both silver and gold within making them, in the words of Dona Aleja, special. Many spiritual traditions recognize gay men and women as “two spirits” and they are highly respected and revered. Dona Aleja also says it is important that women know these teachings of light. Women create life, past the age of conception. We must teach women to have this knowledge of light in the moment of creation. Women are the givers of life so they can help to change the world.)

(On another note, the above touch ritual is adapted from “The Nine Flowers Meditation” by Mantak Chia)

coverFor those who follow this blog, or my page on Facebook, you may or may not know A Structure for Spirit is the name of my book. It was written as a guidebook to create a daily spiritual practice. Its first incarnation was as A Success Journal: Daily Practices to Manifest Your Intentions. It was self-published in 2005 along with an audio of guided meditations.

To create a book out of thin air, with nothing more than the ideas in your head, takes quite a bit of fire. And that fire kept me going for a good year after it was written, promoting it through family (oh what I have put them through in my life!), friends and clients. I ran out of steam as the energy invested seemed to show less and less payoff. I abandoned the book to a closet shelf where it began collecting dust for a number of years.

In 2010 I was working with a mentor who asked me, “How do you intend to bring your wisdom to the world?” Well I never gave it much thought until then but my book in the closet came to mind. After a series of synchronistic events it seemed time to pull the book down from the shelf.

I have had a daily practice for a very long time so what need did I have for a book to help create a daily practice? In the words of my mentor, “You’re blowing past your own medicine.”

I finally became a student of my own book. My father had recently died. My beloved had left me leaving my heart shattered to pieces. A period of isolating loneliness engulfed me.

The book landed in perfect and divine timing. It transformed and so did I. Everything changed, including the name. (Well my name stayed the same.)

Balboa Press became the new self publishing agaency. By this time Facebook was invented. I started a page. Nearly 9000 likes. The fire returned.

Keeping up with writing blogs and posting on Facebook is a full-time job, especially since I have never considered myself to be a writer. My entire life has been in healthcare and healing. My full-time job demands much of my time so for the second time I felt myself abandon the book as the dividends diminished.

THE COCA LEAF READING

On May 10th I arrived in Peru for the fourth time. I had a coca leaf reading my first day there. Shamans use coca leaves for divination the way one might use tarot cards or tea leaves. The coca leaves are prayed into and then thrown onto a sacred cloth.

“Did you write a book?” asked Don Andreas. I should not have been shocked but with wide-eyed awe I said, “Yes” while thinking “Oh no, here we go again with the book.”

“Well you have to make it bigger. You have to include more of what you have learned on your journeys here in Peru. You are like a farmer planting seeds that others in the future may harvest. This wisdom is not your own. It must be shared.”

This message seemed to reverberate louder than ever during our last journey to Peru. Share. Teach. Remove all doubt. Go forth with confidence.

I do not know how and I do not know when but the leaves have been thrown and it is time to grow bigger. I have been assured that the Apus will help me. With this entry I make myself accountable. A request to Spirit for guidance. To remember it is not about “me”. There is nothing that is “mine”. This remembering helps me to get out of my own way. Remove the self-inflicted obstacles created by doubt as another sacred birth is about to begin.
