A few short months ago I gathered five stones in an arroyo in Abiquiu. They held the seeds of ancient wisdom to take into new frontiers. Little did I know that souls the world over would hear this call too.

I return to the arroyo in gratitude for the guidance on this first ever journey to build our personal mesa and deepen the connection to the ancient wisdom that lies in every rock and stone.

Arroya_Rocks2It was a glorious day in Abiquiu to open ceremony for our Mesa Building Journey. After a chilly and overcast morning the sun held us in warmth in the middle of winter.

A beautiful herd of cattle met us at the entry point to our sacred site for ceremony. On New Year’s Day I buried what did not burn of our despacho beneath the tree here. What gentle gatekeepers for us.

“Cows can teach us about home and community and the joy and contentment therein. Cows aid us in realizing to be easy going and live in the moment. They show us about love and connections at work and home. Cows can teach us how to make the changes needed to bring joy in our surroundings.” Animal Totems by Starstuffs

Before heading into the arroyo we prepared our luminous body with a white candle clearing to release the energetic impressions that have imprinted us in lack, limitation and fear. We carried the candles to our ceremonial site to burn.

At the start of our trek we found large stones to carry the burdens we are ready to release. The intention was held for all those on this journey by blowing them into the stone with our breath.

They were laid to rest at our site for ceremony in a circle of protection around our burning candles. Elizabeth Inman of the Purple Adobe Lavender Farm in Abiquiu brought her essential oil from the farm which we used to anoint the stones and each other.

As we laid to rest our burdens and burned the energetic patterns that limit us, we fed our prayers with offerings of flowers, sweets, chocolate and wine. A feast for Pachamama and Spirit!

Prayers for the highest manifest vision for humanity and the Earth were blown into the peace flags and wrapped around our Apuchetta or little mountain offering.

Our prayers and intentions created a vessel of beauty for our beloved Earth Mother, Pachamama, as we heed her ancient wisdom and travel to frontiers not yet known.

Let us remember we are born as the sons and daughters of Pachamama.
Let us remember we are her caretakers and stewards.
Let us learn to listen to her rhythms and cycles.
Let us learn to live in harmony with her
and all her beings.

A bow of gratitude to Valerie Hart for capturing some of these moments.

A dear friend was heading out of town. Before leaving he installed a state of the art alarm system to safeguard his home. Twenty four hours later we were digging a hole to call on protection from a higher order.

I do not have a recipe I conjure up if I need protection however once an intention for ceremony is set a co-creative dance with Spirit begins.

With little time to prepare I began gathering elements; a quartz crystal, red hot chili peppers, rose petals, sage, candles, beer. Sort of like Cooking Channel gone rogue.

The heart of ceremony is held in our intention. For this ceremony our intentions were to call on Spirit to hold this home, and all who dwell in it, in divine protection. As we hold this intention for ourselves we ask that all beings be safe and free from harm.

Our intention was then blown into the quartz crystal and planted in the center of our offering in the Earth.

Shadow of Crystal Pointing North

White candles were rolled over each other to strip clean our luminous fields of the roots of fear. Where do we not feel safe? Where do we feel threatened? Why do we need an alarm system anyway?

The candles too became part of our offering.

I love sage. What would ceremony be without sage? Especially in its native desert home. So a bed of sage was laid around the crystal to clear a path of good intent.

Can you see the crystal pointing up in the center?

You can smell the goodness!

If you are looking to keep harm away a red hot chili pepper will do the trick. Set like daggers, they built an energetic fortress that seemed to say…BACK OFF BUDDY! (or use any euphemism you may see fit)

All I know was nothing was invading this space.

A Chili A Day Keeps Fear Away

A Chili A Day Keeps Fear Away

The fire of our red hot intentions were soothed with herbs, sweets, dark chocolate and coconut yet the most important ingredient we bring to ceremony is our heart. And what better element to hold the intentions of our heart than the beauty of the rose.

Although there was no plan on how to use the rose petals this revealed itself as the ceremony unfolded. The white rose petals, holding the purity of intent, the blessings of the Apus and Divine Masculine energy, were laid in a clockwise direction around the outside of our offering.

White Rose Petals for Purity of Intent and the Blessings of the Apus, the Divine Masculine

White Rose Petals for Purity of Intent and the Blessings of the Apus, the Divine Masculine

The red rose petals, representing the blood of Pachamama and the Divine Feminine, centered themself at the very heart. As the colors fell into divine order the balance of Feminine and Masculine came into ayni, right relationship. As these dualities of energy come to balance it is the Masculine that protects the source of creation in the womb of the Feminine.

Masculine and Feminine in Ayni

Masculine and Feminine in Ayni

To send our intentions to the Upper Worlds of Spirit our offering was covered in cotton harvested from the Earth.

IMG_1928

Four gold candles, the color of protection, were placed in each of the four directions to anchor our intentions.

Our offering then burned.

We fed the land with white rose petals and beer to weave ourselves more deeply to Pachamama and offer gratitude for our prayers.

The ashes lay under the full moon and night sky of stars until buried the next morning.

Ceremony is the language through which our soul speaks. As a call for protection rang from the heart a ceremony manifested as never before. When we set out with good intention, ideas, inspiration and guidance will come through Spirit. We need only listen.

We are at the frontier of shifting paradigms both personally and collectively. It is a time to follow your own heart into ceremony to meet the birth of a new world order.

The only recipe to follow is the one within.

“This is what rituals are for. We do spiritual ceremonies as human beings in order to create a safe resting place for our most complicated feelings of joy or trauma, so that we don’t have to haul those feelings around with us forever, weighing us down. We all need such places of ritual safekeeping. And I do believe that if your culture or tradition doesn’t have the specific ritual you are craving, then you are absolutely permitted to make up a ceremony of your own devising, fixing your own broken-down emotional systems with all the do-it-yourself resourcefulness of a generous plumber/poet.”

“Gratitude is a spiritual practice that is bound to a belief in human interconnectedness and a power greater than us.”
Brene Brown

Brene Brown first gained notoriety with her TED talk on vulnerability that garnered over 10 million hits. Oprah got hold of her and created an online class based on her book The Gifts of Imperfection. This is where my six degrees of separation begins with Oprah.

I take the class.

At week 5 our intention was to practice gratitude as a way to access joy; to stop and take notice of those small things that make our life better, the things that are easy to overlook until they are gone. Our assignment was to take pictures of the ordinary moments or everyday rituals that bring us joy.

Taking pause to stop and capture the little things that often go unnoticed has re-energized my relationship to gratitude. Any practice can lose its luster from time to time. Taking these snapshots helped open my eyes to a deeper appreciation of those moments I often walk right on by.

Here are a few snapshots of my ordinary moments of gratitude.

IMG_1616$5.00 Second Hand Heater Bought for $50.00

Where is the gratitude in that one?

Last year I worked with a man suffering from debilitating hip pain due to degenerative joint disease. Over the course of treatment his pain diminished allowing him to travel from New Mexico back to his native home of Minnesota.

It was not just a return to say hello to his family or celebrate a holiday but a return to an eternal home. He was preparing for his mortality and wanted to put things in order.

Before he left he had a yard sale to raise money for his travels. I stopped by wanting to support his journey. He lived in a small trailer and the few possessions he was selling I could find no use for other than this little heater. He asked for $5.00. I added a zero. He was incredulous with emotion.

I am grateful for the warmth this little heater offers on a cold morning but also for the reminder of the big impact something so small can have on someone’s life.

IMG_1603My Copper Pyramid

I am deeply grateful for the sanctuary of my daily practice. This pyramid is my space for morning practice, meditation and restoration of any kind. My yoga practice has delved deeper into body and soul by practicing under the pyramid. My practice of gratitude begins each morning as I bow my head to surrender to the humble servant of my heart.

IMG_1613A Real Man

A year ago I met a stranger. A man who has been steadfast through times of doubt. A man fearless enough to hold my heart when it felt broken. A man able to see a divine and sexy Goddess when I felt little worth as a woman. A man sent straight from the heavens to help mend a heart back to wholeness.

This card he sent sits on my nightstand in gratitude for the mysterious journey of how strangers become beloveds.

IMG_1655My Daughters

My snapshots are far from complete but any expression of gratitude would feel empty without my daughters. I trust as I look back on my life becoming a mother will be the most important thing that ever happened to me. My oldest daughter was adopted from Korea twenty years ago. My heart opened to love in ways I never knew were possible.

Three months after her arrival I was pregnant with my youngest daughter Danielle who can make me laugh harder than anyone I know. They are the greatest gifts life could ever bestow upon me. I light a candle every morning with a prayer in my heart for each of them.

Many moments missing.
Many moments yet to come.
May I remember
to hold all in gratitude.

PRAYER FROM THE NEW MOON DESPACHO

You may add a prayer at any time to the despacho
by holding it silently, speaking it out loud or writing or posting here.

We bow before you, Pachamama,
with open and humble hearts.

We bow to the Apus, to Spirit, to Creator
to offer our gratitude.

To thank you for your unconditional and unwavering presence
when we are unable to see.

To thank you for holding us when we are lost.
Help us to align with your divine guidance
so we may step once again into our wholeness.

May we drink from the source of your nectar
so our hearts are fed in joy.

May we remember that we are children of this Universe.
May we awaken our innocence, our delight,
our wonder in this world in which we live.

We thank you for hearing our prayers,
for the blessings you bestow.

We thank you for your healing graces that wash us clean.
May we learn to trust in the mystery of your divine order.
We surrender our sorrows, our heartaches, our worries and fears.
We thank you for transforming these seeds of doubt
so they may lay the fertile ground on which we walk
illuminating the pathway for us to follow.

We thank you, thank you, thank you with all our hearts.

“Since we have become beings with language,
our mission as human beings is to be the speakers within the realm of living things.
We communicate and the world makes sense,
and we ourselves makes sense.”
Francois Cheng

It has been an honor to collect and read these prayers of love, beauty, kindness, peace, joy and harmony that sang from every heart. I know I was not able to literally capture every prayer as our visioning ceremony reached wide and far but I am deeply inspired by the outpouring of love and devotion for our Earth Mother through these Pachamama Days. There is a lot to read here but I offer this in the hope that you may feel the love I have felt as these prayers were posted. You may read them or scroll over and feel them. There is no doubt our world is changing, one heart at a time.

We are communicating.
And the world makes sense.

A world where we mourn together, heal together, and rejoice together. And celebration is a daily practice, not an occasional thing we attempt to make time for.

Oneness, where everyone has their needs met consistently, where the weather is warm, the air, water and ground are clean and all people are kind. Then, with basic needs met without worry, humans can enjoy beauty, create from their souls, support the endeavors of others and live in a high vibration.

We replenish your soil with vital nutrients we give back in compost. I dream we power our modern world with the power of pachamama energy. Let it be dreamed. Let it be so.

people are not just open, but they see and listen to their dreams. One where people and give up the ideal of greed and lust spend money to help fix our mother and let the true truths be known

balance restored to Pachamama. For all our relations, stone, trees, plants, and animals. For humans to stop hurting life and live with love and respect for all life. We are all connected

My prayer to the Rogue River in my back yard, as I touch you and love you and thank you, I ask for your forgiveness. I am sorry that I forgot. Please take this prayer of love in every direction for Mother Earth and Father Sky

Let us all learn to walk in balance Pachamama! I greet you, today tomorrow and forever!! With love

a world in which the web of life and the interconnectedness of All is acknowledged, respected and celebrated. I pray for peace, healing, abundance and wholeness for all.

a world where people are connected to the spirit within and the spirit within all life. Each person knows their worth and purpose and is focused on peace, wellness and service. Each act is an act of love.

a world of peace, where all people are equal, where all can have access to the health care needed, the food they need to be healthy. A world where everyone has affordable housing, and decent education for their children. Where all beasts are treated with honor, and the plants of the world can grow as they are meant to.

a world in peace and freedom. A world with plenty joy, where everybody take care for all beings and take responsibility in deep munay and connection with mother Earth. Where everybody is protected.

a world where the children and the animals are cherished. Where the children understand the joy of honoring their mother.

a world where every person says hello, smiles, and embraces those in need of prayer. I imagine a world where no animal or pant life becomes endangered. I imagine a world of rainbows in the sky and in our own hearts. I imagine a world where each day is a celebration. I imagine a kind world. Peace! Love! Song! Dance!

How would loving and respecting each living and breathing entity sound? Pay forward love, compassion and forgiveness throughout the Universe, raising the vibration for all mankind… may we all feel and know this gift in our lifetime and beyond.

Chi-migwetch

a world with fresh water, food, fresh air and a warm bed for all people. I dream of a world where hundreds of millions of animals graze on grass and live in nature without being tortured in captivity and used for food. I dream of a world where people don’t die fighting each other for imaginary paper gains, or resources or imaginary borders. I dream of a world where people don’t live in fear and where they are not exploited for any possible thing that they can be used for. I dream of a healthy Pachamama who can be proud of her children.

May our hearts be opened!

a world filled with love and responsible agriculture. Where the masses head the word of our ancestors and live a life full of purpose.

dear pachamama let us walk on you with an open heart with deep respect, love, and compassion for you our great mother and all our relations.

a world where all people can remember their own courage and lightness, where people can live from their hearts and not so much from their minds, and where we can remember that we are all LIGHT angels and we are here to heal and learn. I imagine a world where intuition, gentleness, sweetness, and kindness are valued and considered incredibly important, because they are. I imagine a world where all people use their firey, masculine side for the good of the world and its creatures. It is not so much about BECOMING what you want to be, it´s about REMEMBERING that you already are, perfect, and that you possess everything that you ever needed. Call those memories to you and you will see.

a world where all creatures of the earth (2 and 4 legged) are honored, respected and treated with love & compassion.

A world as I have been to, a world where only Light lives.
Where we dance between the stars and visit many places in the galaxies. Where we know who and what we really are, the expressions of creation, freely, no longer held in density and ignorance.

This image may be used as a tool for meditation to energetically encode
the vibration of gratitude within your luminous body.

Gaze with soft eyes and a relaxed breath for 5 minutes.

Cultivating a heart of gratitude breeds humility. Gratitude begins to dismantle the internal fight and conflict we wage against life so we are no longer in battle against what is.

Our heart stretches wider in appreciation for both the darkness and the light. This naturally creates a softening of our posture, a softening of our mind, a softening of the way we walk through the world, a softening of how we relate to others. Our hearts begin to rise in a song that celebrates our existence just as the bird sings to greet the morning.

Gratitude literally changes the way our cells vibrate thereby changing the way they interact with each other. Our physical body restructures. Gratitude strengthens our immune system. Gratitude influences the chemical solution in which our brains bathe altering moods and mindsets while adjusting the frequencies it transmits enhancing our ability to create and manifest.

The hearts of our modern-day world are not accustomed to this vibration. Our apologies and smiles are often devoid of feeling, forced and conditional. The false pretenses of thank you clang together in a hollow heart.

There is an attention and training required to cultivate the vibration of gratitude through a moment by moment practice. When we notice denser vibrations of resentment, anger, bitterness consuming our heart we give pause. We find one thing, one small thing in any given moment that we are grateful for, even if it is for the feeling we are experiencing in that moment. No matter how small, we begin to plant seeds of gratitude within our heart. On a frequent and daily basis these seeds begin to take root in order for our heart to rewire in the vibration of gratitude. It is this vibration that not only entrains the heart but influences our entire body down to the cellular and chemical make up of who we are.

Gratitude connects us to Pachamama, our Mother Earth and begins to feed and cultivate our relationship with her. We are collectively disconnected in our consciousness to the planet we live on. Gratitude begins to weave our luminous bodies more deeply to Mother Earth which in turn feeds our gratitude from the unconditional love from Pachamama. It is a source of sustaining our vibratory levels of gratitude through a reciprocal exchange with our own Earth Mother.

Gratitude makes us more receptive to information from both below us and above us. Gratitude grounds us more deeply to the Earth as well as opens channels to a higher source of wisdom above.

Gratitude consolidates other vibrations within it. Dense or heavy vibrations held within the vibration of gratitude become transformed altering the way we are seeing, perceiving and being in reality.

Masks and hidden agendas fall away no longer held in place by the vibration of gratitude. Gratitude creates simple and direct ways of relating from our heart to the world around us. Gratitude bypasses other methods of communication. Two people may not speak the same verbal language but if those hearts are meeting in gratitude there is an understanding and language of the heart that happens simply through the vibration of gratitude.

Gratitude brings beauty and sacredness to the world. Gratitude does not operate from a place of looking to get anything. A heart in gratitude offers unconditionally without discrimination or condition.

This is what the kuyas speak.

“Our task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself
that you have built against it.”
Rumi ~

Here are a few things to prepare for our New Moon Despacho as we gather as a virtual community to unravel the knots of our heart that block the flow of unconditional love or what shamans call munay. We ceremonially offer these barriers to restore our hearts to munay so we may right our relationships to others, to Pachamama, to Spirit, to our own Soul. We bring this love to ourself with self forgiveness for the harm these barriers have perpetuated.

There are a number of ways to participate in ceremony depending on your time and what calls to you.

Here are some things you may need depending on your plan to take part:

Once ceremony opens you want to create time and space that feels sacred for you. This ceremony is offered with a 20 minute video so be sure you have set aside time where you will not be interrupted. You may want to light a candle before you begin as a simple way to leave the routine of your day and enter into ceremony.

Another practice that helps prepare us for ceremony is purification. A simple purification ritual can be created by rubbing your dry hands together with fine sea salt holding the intention of clearing any negativity from your heart. Continue until you feel your hands are clean and clear. As our hands are energetic extensions of our heart, cleansing in this way helps clear our heart. Purification practices are believed to make the heart more pure, empowering the strength of our prayers and intentions. Smudging, floral waters and incense can also be part of a purification ritual.

Before ceremony opens take a moment to pause and reflect. We will be using our relationships to discover where our hearts have become knotted in anger, hatred, pride, greed, jealousy, judgment, blocking the life force of unconditional love or munay through our heart.

Who are you in struggle or conflict with?
Who depletes your energy or makes you feel diminished?
Who do you avoid?
Who tends to bring out the worst in you?

These relationships that we struggle with are our teachers and may include those who have already passed. The energetic cords that hold each other exist beyond time and space. We offer in ceremony the sacred discomfort, pain and struggles of our heart that arise in response to another. We discover the knots in our own heart and make of them a prayer, changing their vibration as we surrender them to Spirit to soften our heart and restore a flow of unconditional love.

There are a number of ways to participate so notice what calls to you:

  • Once ceremony opens a video will be posted on the blog creating an opportunity for us to meet in prayer and ceremony online.
  • Your prayers and intentions will be blown directly into the qintu on the video. This collective prayer holder will be added to the despacho before ceremony closes.
  • You may create your own qintu with 3 bay leaves, small native leaves or flower petals and blow in your prayers which you can bury or burn.
  • A picture of the despacho will be posted which you may print to hold your qintus and make a despacho of your own. Place 4 qintus (12 bay leaves) in a meaningful arrangement and add offerings such as incense, sage, tobacco, herbs, flower petals, grains, sweets or dried fruits to energetically feed your prayers. Fold your despacho into a square and tie closed with ribbon, twine or string. Do not turn your despacho over or shake in any way to keep your intentions undisturbed. Your despacho is then burned or buried.
  • You can blow your personal intentions and prayers into seeds which you plant in potted soil, a garden or somewhere on the Earth.
Once you have finished placing your prayers and intentions in whatever way calls to you, you may listen to the guided meditation Heart of Peace to deepen the sense of munay in your heart and the connection with all that is around you. The meditation lasts about 10 minutes and is wonderful to listen to before dreamtime.

The Despacho will be available and open for ceremony for 3 days starting on April 2oth, the day before the New Moon at 7:30 pm EST, until April 22nd at 7:30 am EST after which it will be offered in a fire ceremony. You can participate during any time the despacho is open. The Despacho will be anchored by the kuyas (stones) of my mesa received during rites and initiations from Shamans in the mountains of Peru.

Our ceremony is supported by the Shamans, Medicine Women, Healers and Priestessess of We the Women. It is simultaneously occurring with a Global Vigil Fire of hundreds of Shamans and Fire Keepers from around the world as they weave a new global tapestry and feed the living giving energy of the circle.

Please share any comments or questions that arise as we create a collective intent to energize and empower the opening of our hearts as we step into ceremony.

Join in ceremony here.
