At the time of our birth we are each held by a great power in Nature. Where were you born? What mountain or ocean held you when came into the world?

The shamans teach us an honoring and acknowledgment of these great places of power is needed to connect more deeply to the source of power that has kept watch over you.

Make an offering to show respect and say thank you. This is how we restore ayni or what shamans call right relationship to the source of power. We offer our prayers. We offer gratitude.

We begin to taste the drop of nectar that is our power. Not in an arrogant way. Not in a superior way that we have come to define and understand power but in a humble way.

We come to taste the power of knowing how our thoughts, our words and our actions are creating the world we live in. We are powerful in ways we never imagined.

This is the new frontier. It is a map of your own wild wilderness.

During an intense few weeks this October, my life changed dramatically through circumstances and events that broke down the life I was living and opened the doorway to a new reality orchestrated by the Divine hand of Spirit.

During this time the land in New Mexico spoke to me through stones found during an early morning hike in an arroyo in Abiquiu. These stones held information on teaching people how to build a personal mesa.

A mesa is a shaman’s altar or medicine bundle used for healing, ceremony, prayer and divination. It is a portal to Spirit and deepens our awareness to non-ordinary states of reality.

DSC03302

I have carried a mesa for the past 10 years, starting with the Four Winds Light Body School and the teachings of Alberto Villoldo. Since that time I have had the great privilege to deepen my practices with medicine men and women in the high Andes through the Bouquet of Light Women’s Journey to Peru to awaken the Divine Feminine.

My mesa has changed in so many ways over the years as kuyas or healing stones have been added and released. This journey now creates a whole new mesa for me.

For some, a mesa looks like a bag of stones or arrangement of rocks and on a literal level this is true. But at the mythic level a mesa deepens your connection to Spirit and anchors you to Mother Earth. A mesa teaches us to listen to the voice of Spirit as it moves through us. The only reason I have any sense of what the stones in the arroyo were speaking of was because of the connection to my own mesa.

Each stone, or kuya as they are called in one’s mesa, represents a particular location in Northern New Mexico to gather for ceremony. Each ceremony will be an opportunity to receive a kuya and begin to build a personal mesa. Although these kuyas represent locations in Northern New Mexico, you can participate from wherever you are and build a mesa with stones from your own native land.

IMG_4075

Each kuya is received during one of the four seasons. The cycle of seasons become the reference point for building our mesa helping to deepen the connection to our own inner rhythms and cycles as each season becomes a mirror for our own reflection.

During each season we will hold an intention for our personal evolution and transformation as we learn to work with our kuyas or healing stones. Each season will also include information and teachings on:

  • Opening Sacred Space
  • Creating an Altar
  • Shamanic Journey to meet a Spirit Ally
  • Clearing and Purification Practices
  • Kundalini Kriyas and/or Meditation
  • Guided Breathwork Session
  • Journaling Assignments
  • Personal and Collective Despacho Ceremony

The Mesa Building Journey will be offered on land as well as online allowing you to participate from wherever you are at a pace that suits your lifestyle although establishing certain practices each day will be highly advisable. A forum for communication and group sharing will be created through a closed Facebook group.

I never had any thought about teaching others to build a mesa but it is clearly Divine intent. Although this journey is still shaping itself into being I am inspired to start sharing and spreading the news of this unique opportunity for spiritual transformation that is being guided and informed by the Santa Tierras, the ancient wisdom of the feminine land spirits.

Registration for this first time ever experience will begin in the season of Winter after the start of the New Year so stay tuned for more information.

I thank you for spreading the news!

In Nature there is a great silence. Stand in the middle of the forest and you will come to know its immenseness. You will find it in the mountains standing so still. They speak with a power that cannot be understood in words. One must go deeper to listen.

Silence is not devoid of sound but a mother tongue of all sound. We are born from the primoridal sound of silence for it is the language of Creation.

Silence exists in space. In deep surrender, when resistance falls away, when all control is let loose, we come to know silence. Silence speaks with a depth of feeling commensurate with how deeply we listen.

We have forsaken our native tongue in pursuit of seductive sensory quests. We have abandoned the noble art of silence and the profound gift in solitude.

Silence has become a sword used to inflict pain. The silent treatment is a withdrawal of our love and attention from another. We disconnect from our heart. We have taken silence and used it to hurt and to harm.

This is not the truth of silence. This is silence corrupted for silence is our most wide-open heart, transparent and tender, not closed and guarded.

We do this with anything of great power. When we cannot comprehend a mystery we make it wrong. We corrupt it to give a sense of control over something we do not understand.

Why have we become so uncomfortable with silence? Any space between others is afflicted when devoid of words. We feel a need to fill in the gaps lest silence feel awkward.

There is a difference in hiding behind a safety net of silence to withdraw from speaking your truth. This too is silence corrupted. We think, oh I use silence because I am not saying anything or I am being quiet so I understand silence.

This is not the truth of silence. This is a poor understanding of silence. Sometimes your voice is needed. You must speak up and use words.

The Full Moon in Capricorn is this Saturday, July 12th, bringing certain relationship dynamics to a head. Wherever communication has been lacking and emotions have been held in and back, prepare for whatever is pressing to come out on the table. Fortunately, Mars will also be trining loving Venus, which means if you are pure in your intentions to find a meeting ground and to resolve to evolve, your spirited talks will show the way.  Kristin Fontana, Evolutionary Astrologer

fullmoon

I recently returned to New York for the summer, grateful for the time and space to attempt to bring my book from chaos to order. Practices, rituals and ceremonies are woven throughout. As I was preparing for this upcoming full moon I thought to share an excerpt so you may use this time as an opportunity to transform your fears. For any ritual or ceremony, create a sacred space in whatever way feels natural to you. This can be as simple as lighting a candle or saying a prayer to align your intentions with the helping hand of Spirit.

Bring to mind a fear you would like to work with. Really give it full reign in your mind’s eye. Imagine the worst or recall memories or circumstances that validate your fear and offer proof that it is real. This allows you to feel it in your body. This fear can be energetically transferred through your breath to an element of nature. Use a stone and on your exhale empty all the energetic impressions that have laid a foundation of fear in your body into the stone.

Keep blowing into the stone until you have a sense of completion. Your stone is now holding this pattern. This fear code will be offered to the earth. Bury it if you like for the element of earth will compost the energetic vibrations. You may throw your stone in a moving body of water to cleanse and purify the energetic code of fear. This is a process that does not involve analysis of your fear the way therapy would but works beyond the mind at the level of vibration and frequency.

This clearing practice creates a vacuum in our luminous field as we begin to empty these energetic patterns of fear. In the presence of a void our energy field is going to look to fill that that space up. Our attachment to these patterns are often so strong and the roots go very deep that our field reshapes itself to the previous pattern. Once we release something we need to replace that with a new pattern. In this way we are rewiring our luminous field that in turn is informing and shaping our physical body.

How do we reinform our luminous field after a clearing? What is a simple and effective way to repattern the field after release? Notice what you would like to create or call into your life.

Abundance. Joy. A sense of purpose. Vitality or health. Balance. Prosperity.

There is an endless source of qualities to be informed by other than fear. You can begin to reshape yourself with a new vibration with a very simple practice.

Our most primal sense is our sense of smell. We have lost touch with its significance but watch any animal and you will see the power of this sense at work.

Find an oil that uplifts you. Try clary sage, bergamot, lavender, sandalwood or myrrh. Apply under your nostrils. Mentally vibrate your intention as you breathe in deeply. Use a mantra or create an affirmation in the present tense. Your primal sense of smell bypasses all that is logical and of the mind and associates this scent with a new vibration.

Everything exists in relationship. In Nature there is no hierarchy to relationship. One does not dominate another and when one element is dominant it is to come into balance. Nature is always looking to be in balance and restore equilibrium. Evolution is always in a state of change so Nature is always recalibrating to find balance. As our population changes, Nature is adapting. As our climate changes, Nature is adapting. We look at these adaptations in Nature and say it is a disaster.

IMG_9361

Do not worry so much about Nature for Nature has the power to right itself. It is we, as humans, where we need to put our attention. It is our state of imbalance that creates an undue stress on Nature and therefore requires her to be in an excessive state of recalibration. We can assist Nature in doing her job by reducing the stressload we place on her.

It is like this too with our bodies. Our bodies have an innate wisdom, a divine intelligence that knows how to heal. Despite poor diet and self-care, people recover from trauma, surgery, illness and disease due to the miracle of our body. Yet we can assist our body and support its heath by eating right, exercising and reducing the stressload we place on our bodies to allow our bodies to do their job with less effort, less strain.

It is the same with Nature and the body of Earth.

We are the biggest stressload on Nature. All that we waste, all that we consume creates tremendous stress on our planet. Simplify. Live simply. If each of us were to do this we would reduce the stress significantly.

So do not worry about Nature for she is doing her job. Worry about you. What stress are you creating? What if we thought about everything that we dispose of? Where does it go? What does Nature do with it? How does my waste effect the elements? Where am I not in balance with my own body? When I am creating pollution, garbage and toxicity within me I am creating that in the world around me. This is serious to look at. Cleaning up the planet begins with cleaning up ourselves.

Look at the elements within you for you are made up of all the elements of Nature.

You are of this Earth and to her you will return. How are you tending to the element of Earth? How are you taking care of your body?

I was deeply moved by the outpouring of prayers for our Earth Mother from hearts the world over, all in response to an invitation on facebook to Imagine A World.

Our Visioning Despacho was created on August 10th in honor of Pachamama Days which correlates to May 2014, a time of blooming and blossoming. The number 10 reflects unity and divinity and speaks to our intentions of visioning a new world. For these reasons, along with August 10th being my birthday, the day felt auspicious!

Despacho prayers and offerings are often placed in wrapping paper but as I travel I find myself drawn to maps to orient and anchor prayers to the land. Since our visioning despacho was a prayer for humanity, a map of the world was used.

IMG_0670Words from each prayer were written on violet paper, the color of creation. Healing, kindness, love, Oneness, humility, Consciousness, devotion, unity, peace, harmony, abundance. Each day as they sat on the altar, the Tibetan singing bowl rang over these words sending their vibrations straight to Creator on the current of sound. The words were then woven together to symbolize our interconnectedness before being placed in the center of our despacolho.

IMG_0671A mandala of whole nuts grown locally in New Mexico remind us of our wholeness, our holiness and the seed potential of each vision. Each prayer was spoken into a qintu made of three bay leaves and radiated out from our holy center. Ten pine cones surrounded our prayers as beacons of light to guide our visions to manifestation. Pine trees are one of the most ancient plants on the planet and our pineal gland, which is intimately linked to our perception of light, is shaped like and named after the pine cone.

IMG_0672

Wildflowers from the desert, along with candies, sugar cookies, animal crackers, grains, incense, sprinkles, cocoa, sage and tobacco
were offered to feed our prayers and Pachamama.

IMG_0673

A blanket of cotton quilt lay atop representing the Upper World. Feathers to lift our prayers to Creator and to honor the Apus, for the mountain spirits appear as winged ones, were placed in the center. Gold and silver sugar, sparkles and glitter, violet flowers of creation and colored candies fed our prayers to the invisible realms of Spirit so they may be made visible here on Earth. As above, so below.

IMG_0674

Tibetan prayer flags were added to honor inclusivity in these times of dissolving borders that have been falsely erected between race, religion, gender, sexuality and a whole host of judgments that divide humanity. Once complete the Tibetan singing bowl once again sounded.

IMG_0676

Wrapped in the world map, a forgotten prayer holder of wildflowers was tied to the outside. Prayers are held through time and space until visions have manifested. Under a night sky of gentle rain our despacho sat, a sure blessing in the desert.

IMG_0677

Our despacho was buried in the belly of Pachamama in the deserts of New Mexico. The Earth was prepared with prayer and offerings of sweetgrass, herbs and dried flowers. It is here our visions sit with our Mother, taking root deep in her belly so they may blossom and bear fruit.
May she know how much we love her.

IMG_0695

We thank you Pachamama,
for everything we have comes from you,
and it is to you we return.
We are sorry for the harm we have brought to you
through our ignorance and greed.
We love you.
We honor you.
We respect you.
Please forgive us,
your sons and daughters,
and help us Beloved Mother
to walk in a good way.
